Taiwanese mobile-phone maker HTC Corporation has just released another software update for one of its highly popular handsets available on the market. The device in question is the HTC Touch Pro2 currently available for purchase in the US from Sprint, and the software update addresses some issues with the SMS messages that display the incorrect year.

Here's how the handset vendor describes the new hotfix for Touch pro2: “This is a known issue. Please follow the instructions below to download and install a hotfix that will correct this issue. The hotfix will resolve the issue causing incoming SMS messages to display the incorrect year, and it will correct the incorrect year on SMS messages that were received prior to installing this hotfix.”

Most of you might already know that, as soon as we entered the new year, some handsets experienced issues with SMS messages, as they showed the year as being 2016, and not 2010. This hotfix for HTC Touch Pro2 should resolve the problem, and it comes shortly after HTC has released updates for other two handsets at Sprint, namely the Touch Pro and Touch Diamond.

The hotfix for the Touch Pro2 is available for download from HTC's website, here. According to the company, the solution will have to be reinstalled in case a hard reset of the device is performed after the installation, and users should also note that, in case they installed other software “to bypass the MCTS functionality of the device, the device may need to be hard reset prior to this hotfix being installed.”

The installation instructions for the hotfix are all available on HTC's website. The software solution weighs in at 631 Kb, and, considering that the installation will have to be performed via a personal computer, all should go fast and smoothly. Just make sure that you follow the instructions to the letter so that all will go according to plan.
