One big step made towards its release

HTC Cavalier, the follower of the HTC Excalibur smartphone, has just been approved by the FCC. This means that we can dare hope that it will be released quite soon, which comes as great news, especially for those who loved the previous similar model.

The smartphone is only 13.7 mm thick, thus earning a place among some of the thinnest such devices available. This is a bit more than its predecessor - the Excalibur phone model - came with, but will still manage to provide enough comfort to its owner.

Performances are considerably more evolved in this handset, as it comes with a 400 Mhz CPU, almost double the performance when compared to the older version. The display screen is just about the same, at 2.4 inch and with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. Another improvement stands in the integrated camera's performances, as it has upgraded from 1.3 to 1.9 megapixels. Unfortunately, that is not a radical improvement, as it still does not have a built-in flash and will not manage to raise above the average when it comes to capture quality.

Important differences end here, as the two smartphones share most of the remaining features. The design has changed too, as the HTC Cavalier model comes with more rounded corners and a more practical appearance. The QWERTY keyboard features smaller buttons, which might turn out to be more difficult to press. Moreover, the JOGGR touch-wheel has been moved to the side of the phone, instead of being positioned next to the screen.

At the beginning of the year, the company had postponed this smartphone for an indefinite period of time. Now that the HTC Cavalier has been approved by FCC, it shouldn't be long until it will become available for purchase. Still, no specifications have been made on that or on the price that it will come for.
