Mobile applications developer Gerald Aquila announced the release of a major update to Firetask, its task management application for the iPhone and iPod touch. The new 3.0 version introduces tasks flagging, comes with a redesigned task list user interface and fully supports iOS 4 and iPhone 4.

The most important feature added in Firetask 3.0 is the ability to flag tasks, which allows users to see additional tasks on the Today screen. Compared to previous versions, the Today view now shows not only the first unscheduled task together with all due tasks, but also all tasks flagged by the users in the defined order. This allows a more precise control over the next tasks list.

Another important change is the redesigned task list user interface which now has a more natural look. The previously combined priority/status indicators have been replaced by a new 3-step status control to the left, separated from the task list by a vertical orange line. The new design provides a clearer view and more closely resembles the user interface of the upcoming application for Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The desktop counterpart, which is scheduled for release this summer, will be able to synchronize tasks with the iPhone version.

Firetask 3.0 is compatible with iOS 4 and takes full advantage of the new capabilities introduced in Apple's latest version of its operating system, supporting fast application switching. Also, the mobile application now comes with a complete set of high-resolution images optimized for iPhone 4's retina display.

Firetask is a project-oriented task management application. It combines the advantages of the classical approach based on priorities and due dates with David Allen's "Getting Things Done" organizational method.

The new release of Firetask is available worldwide for a price of $4.99. Interested users can get the latest version of the application here.
