Fallout 3 Patch ComingAlso Trophies ready for the PS3 |
|
| |
Fallout 3 is seen, by both critics and players, as a very good game, but, as most releases these days, the game has a few issues. Some PC players have reported crashes, especially when saving and leaving the game. So, Bethesda is getting ready to address those issues in a patch.
Talking to Eurogamer, Bethesda's Fallout 3 product manager, Peter Hines, said that a patch was in the works, aiming to tackle “a few PC-specific things that have come up”. Hines added that the patch was coming soon, maybe even today, but the company is now talking about a release date later this week, with the aim of fixing the most pressing bugs that lead to crashes. The company appears to be looking at complaints from players in order to put together a more extensive update. "We’re still in the process of going through and looking at any issues/fixes, and once that is done there is lots of additional testing/fixing that has to be done before it can be released. Similarly, we're looking into matters on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3." The PlayStation 3 version of the game is also set to receive support for Trophies, which are expected to reflect the Achievements available on the Xbox 360. No date is know for the release of the PS3 patch yet. Fallout 3 is set in a bleak post nuclear war background and players step into the irradiated boots of a character who leaves Vault 101 in order to search for his father. I haven't played much of the game yet, as Red Alert 3 is still taking most of my time, but it looks beautiful and the role playing mechanisms seem to be solid. The VATS, the main new concept related to combat, is also a joy to watch in action.

| Comment #1 by: Mitch on 06 Nov 2008, 20:59 GMT | reply to this comment | Bethesda should be fined or something for bringing a game out with so many problems, if someone made a car that had brakes that only worked when it felt like it they wouldnt be able to sell it so why should people be able to sell games that are only half tested |
| Comment #2 by: outwar6010 on 09 Nov 2008, 20:01 GMT | reply to this comment | exactly my personal experience include the game freezing(very frequently), game resets(rare but annoying as hell), world inconsistancies(very frequently characters going through world etc) albeit a beatiful game but bethesda has really shot themselves in the foot allowing the release game to have so many serious and minor bugs gone unoticed or ignored. |
| Comment #3 by: bobdole on 12 Nov 2008, 02:26 GMT | reply to this comment | yea there are a lot of problems, i even know someone who told me that some characters that were needed to finish the main story line froze up as he was following them. He left them an came back and they were gone, result, he can no longer finish the main story. that really sucks. |
| Comment #4 by: Daniel on 17 Nov 2008, 02:08 GMT | reply to this comment | I find that actually following the main storyline in sequence isn't necessary. I was exploring on my own and I suddenly found my Dad without even going to GNR. |
| Comment #5 by: Will on 20 Nov 2008, 11:19 GMT | reply to this comment | Bugged?!
This game works a treat with only a crash here and there. You won't complain about this Work of art if you played (Or at least tried to play) Stalker. It won't even let me out of the starting area without crashing.
No right to complain. This game is art. |
| Comment #6 by: Danny Internets on 23 Nov 2008, 14:39 GMT | reply to this comment | Will, this game is bugged to hell as evidenced by the HUGE number of complaints from PC (and PS3) users.
Are you aware that if you run VATS with anti-aliasing enabled on most machines that it causes the game to crash? Yeah. That's a pretty big bug. Amazing how they didn't catch that one, eh? And that's just ONE of the many glaring problems this game has. It's even worse than Oblivion when it released, and that's saying something.
The game itself is awesome, but don't let your fanboyism cloud your reasoning. The game has a tremendous amount of bugs which should have been fixed instead of rushing the game out the door for the Christmas season. |
| Comment #7 by: Apoptosis on 24 Nov 2008, 06:04 GMT | reply to this comment | well Mitch, I guess were all very freaking lucky this game isn't a freaking car, now aren't we? If this game was a car there would be millions of dead people already, |
| Comment #8 by: JM on 24 Nov 2008, 11:49 GMT | reply to this comment | A car won't sell that many =P... but i guess Danny is right, this game has so much bugs, even loading a save game crashes the game..
Bethesda shouldn't have rushed Fallout 3... It is destroying "Fallout's" reputation.. |
| Comment #9 by: radar427 on 24 Nov 2008, 12:45 GMT | reply to this comment | i completed this game without any cheats first time round then tried the cheats to see wat i could find or make happen so i know this almost back to front allready.
the shadings were great but the animationson the people and animals are shocking, the 2D horizons for example id head towards a radio tower then suddenly the 2d image would change into a 3d image half the width wtf, they sohuld have added a drivable car like every other fallout, and for christs sake wats with the god damn crashs for example could never get a karma below neutral so i typed in adddkarma -a few hundred and it crashes or it works for a bit then i save then it crashs a while after and in the save file it sez my karma is "NULL" sop everytime i load it crashs imediatlly |
| Comment #10 by: Dennis Gatus P. on 25 Nov 2008, 19:32 GMT | reply to this comment | im planning to trade in this game. the game is amazing but. i got stuck where my dad dies and when enter the room the game freezes i tried to reboot my ps3 but the problem is still there on the same spot. and it got me really pissed' |
| Comment #11 by: mad@fools on 27 Nov 2008, 14:11 GMT | reply to this comment | ps3 version is so buggy, really puts me off playing it. |
| Comment #12 by: sean on 01 Dec 2008, 06:01 GMT | reply to this comment | ...because video games don't kill people when they crash. So long as this patch is actually released in the near future all is well. Maybe I will play it again once it gets fixed. |
| Comment #13 by: Brimst1 on 03 Dec 2008, 01:05 GMT | reply to this comment | I agree with the first poster..they should be fined or at least get trashed in public for such a release..Yes, the game itself is great, when it works but c'mon..I pay the money, I want quality. A freeze once or twice in a multiplayer game I can live with, but this is pushing it and its not even online! And to Will; YES BUGGED! I dont care if its supposed to be art, Metal Gear Solid 4 was art, but ran smoothly. |
| Comment #14 by: Robby on 04 Dec 2008, 03:23 GMT | reply to this comment | I think this game is great so great that I've been playing it since November 19th till December 3rd almost non stop (not really), but the reason i stopped on today of all days was because i tried to load an the game crashed 6 times even after using purposed updates that didn't work. I'm really temped to ask for my money back i like the game and its a wonderful story but the fact that the game just crash and won't work really makes me angry. there no need for such a thing to happen, this game got top marks from almost everyone but they couldn't have wait to fix all the stuff that was wrong before it launched even if it was for Christmas season they had some time when launching it back in October. |
| Comment #15 by: swev on 04 Dec 2008, 21:14 GMT | reply to this comment | I rarely get bugs with my system, and has been updated twice already but still... You guys get alot more problems then i do and im running it on vista 64 bit. |
| Comment #16 by: Charly on 05 Dec 2008, 19:38 GMT | reply to this comment | Well. Actually I also love this game. But i have a bugg that is pissing me off. When i want to open the inventory my menu is like frozen. Then after i zooming or zoom out in the map area sometimes it just come back and its responsive. PLease we need some patches!! |
| Comment #17 by: monty on 07 Feb 2009, 07:23 GMT | reply to this comment | my game glitched and now my right trigger doesn't shoot or do anything! and even worse is it saved right in the middle of the slavers camp shooting at complete random causing them all to kill me with ease... I loaded from a different save point and it does it there too! I guess I must start over ??? |
| Comment #18 by: clayton on 27 Aug 2009, 22:02 GMT | reply to this comment | It really is terrible Bethesda should refund all of us, they could havecreated half a game for all we know, we cant get that far, I have the PS3 version and also always get stuck where my dad dies, as I enter the door to the gift shop, boom frozen, I've deleted the cache as so many suggested, didn't help, I uploaded the new version, didn't help, not I'm waiting for the new update so one day i can finish the greatest game ever made, apparently its due to the save files getting over 5mb, it's unstable, but only happens later in the game |
| Comment #19 by: Ryan (slayer of the wastes) on 25 Oct 2009, 20:19 GMT | reply to this comment | i hope they make a patch for the ps3 version, its crashing constantly, especially in vats, but also when quick traveling. seems the further into the game the more often it crashes, my save file is at 14mb and as it goes up higher the more it tends to freeze, holding down the power button and reloading makes it work again but only for a short time until it crashes again. it just crashed moments ago before i came to this site to see if anyone else is experiencing the problem. good to know there will be an update, i just hope it dosn't take to long to come out. i know its not my system, all my other games work perfectly without crashing. |
