Fallout 3 is a truly massive game, reviving the post apocalyptic RPG (Role Playing Game) series after almost 10 years since the second title in the franchise. It puts the player in the shoes of an ordinary man who sets out into the barren wasteland, which is the United States after a nuclear war, in search of his father.

The developer, Bethesda Softworks, took over the franchise from the original creators of the first two titles, Interplay, and fans hoped that the creators of the hit RPG series The Elder Scrolls would make a great Fallout 3 game. And it definitely looks like they weren't disappointed as the title has had remarkable day one sales, with many people standing in line at midnight to get their hands on a copy of the eagerly anticipated game.

Bethesda recently stated that the feedback from fans really surprised the company, and it hoped that the game would not disappoint the massive number of fans. Pete Hines, the PR spokesperson for Bethesda, spoke with Edge a while ago, and he revealed that the company was always nervous before receiving the reviews for its games. He went on to say that, although the awards the title had received before the launch were exciting, the opinion of the fans was the most important.

"We're never really sure how these reviews will turn out. So in general, we're always nervous/anxious. Obviously, we had some early indications from folks that played the game first for print magazines here and in Europe. The 10 out of 10 from Official Xbox Magazine here in the U.S. gave us an indication that at least somebody really liked it. But obviously we'd prefer that everyone like it, so we were at the midnight launch event last night at 12:01 browsing every site we could think of to see if reviews are up and what they said."

He also revealed that, although the very positive reviews made the company extremely happy, in the end, all that mattered was how much fans would enjoy the game and what feedback it would receive from them for the upcoming DLC packs. "We're very pleased and thankful that people like it so far," he said. "Obviously, we also really hope all the folks going out to buy and play the game really like it as well."
