The one thing about EIZO is that it seems to have a penchant for displays with more than the usual range of capabilities, both in terms of image quality and panel positioning.

EIZO is an IT player known for its various display solutions, not just consumer-oriented but also, if not especially, those for the professional market.

While consumer monitors and TVs usually stick to the same so-called “guidelines” for enjoyment (resolutions, form factor etc.), the rest often find use for less than ordinary features.

In this case, the new FlexScan displays feature what one may see as a fairly unusual stand which can let users position the monitor almost horizontally, where the keyboard would normally be (the tilt function has 6 settings of 15 degrees to 65 degrees angles).

They are two in number, with the names of FlexScan T2351 and FlexScan T1751, while their screen sizes are of 23 inches and 17 inches, respectively.

The former utilizes a VA (Vertical Alignment) LCD (liquid crystal display) panel and features a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels (Full HD).

It also boasts a contrast ratio of 3,000:1, a 0.35W speaker, a GTG (gray-to-gray) response time of 7ms and multiple connectors (D-Sub, DVI, HDMI and even USB 2.0).

Meanwhile, the FlexScan T1751, also a VA LCD, has a more modest resolution (1,280 x 1,024 pixels) and a 25ms (black-white-black) response time, plus a pair of 0.5W speakers, a contrast ratio of 1,500:1 and the same connectors as its sibling, minus HDMI.

"The ability to position the monitor where your keyboard would normally sit, and to tilt the monitor so that your forearms can rest on the screen, will make touching or typing on a multitouch screen even easier and therefore very appealing to users in a variety of home and office environments," said Al Monro, NextWindow’s CEO.

Libraries, kiosks, health facilities, schools and universities, entertainment centers, even homes and offices should find some use for either product.

Both of them use the NextWindow 1900 Desktop Touch technology but, unfortunately, have not been given prices.
