EA Formally Announces NFS UC, Tiger Woods PGA Tour for iPhone, iPod touch

EA Mobile, a division of Electronic Arts Inc., has officially announced the release of two highly anticipated titles for iPhone and iPod touch, confirming their immediate availability in the iTunes App Store. According to the giant developer, “Need For Speed Undercover and Tiger Woods PGA Tour were created for the unique capabilities of the iPhone and iPod touch and providing the graphic quality and simulation experience that is core to these successful franchises.”

Softpedia reported yesterday that Need for Speed Undercover had appeared in the App Store, priced at $9.99. EA reveals that gamers can get behind the wheel of 20 of the world’s hottest cars, including the Porsche Carrera GT, and the Lamborghini Gallardo – all of which they can make their own with aftermarket spoilers, multiple wheel options, body kits and a variety of paint schemes. According to the developers, players will be able to corner and drift at 150mph+ with precisely tuned tilt control steering and Nitrous Boost and Speedbreaker activation with the swipe of a finger.

Speaking of Tiger Woods PGA Tour in particular, EA Mobile reveals that players will mostly be using the touchscreen functionality to play. The game offers 120+ holes across seven of the most famous golf courses in the world, including Pebble Beach, St. Andrews, and TPC Sawgrass. 3D visuals, dynamic camera angles and true-to-life sounds, as well as play-by-play commentary throughout the game round up the main feature list.

“Tiger Woods PGA TOUR brings the ultimate mobile golf experience to the iPhone and iPod touch, including the world’s No. 1 golfer, legendary courses and an interface that leverages these great devices,” Adam Sussman, VP of Worldwide Publishing for EA Mobile, said. “Need for Speed players will lose themselves in the most intense 3D racing environment EA has brought to mobile phones.”
