Apple has seeded its vast developer community with new betas of the iPhone OS 3.0, iPhone SDK 3.0 and iTunes 8.2. Specifically, OS 3.0 Beta 5 (7A312g) updates one API, while iTunes 8.2 (b10) seems to patch one hole. No changes have been reported with the newest SDK build as of this post. As with the previous release, iTunes 8.2 is required to install the latest iPhone 3.0 beta.

Thanks to a post over at the Modmyi forums, we have learned that the upgraded store kit is the only API updated in the new iPhone OS Beta, while the changes in iTunes 8.2 are described as such: “There is a new iTunes 8.2 and apparently the option+click/shift+click has been patched,”. The post’s author also notes that “If you want to keep your cellular data settings screen, tethering, and MMS then make sure your carrier settings (ipcc) is updated before you upgrade.”

Also noteworthy is that, by equipping devs with new builds of the software just eight days after the last seed, Apple is providing further indication that the Mac OS X 10.5.7 release is imminent. While we cannot confirm the accuracy of the report, a known issue is also listed with the fifth beta of the iPhone OS 3.0.

“A small set of AT&T customers may experience data services that stop working after installing iPhone OS 3.0 beta 5 on a device. If you experience this problem with a device that worked properly before the beta 5 update, please call the developer support line at 1-800-xxx-xxxx for help restoring data services,” the seed notes allegedly say.

In order to download the iPhone SDK 3.0 Beta 5, you need to log in with your Apple ID. You must be enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program to access the development resources for iPhone OS 3.0 Beta. Mac OS X 10.5.5 (or later) is also required to be able to use iPhone SDK 3.0 Beta 5. Those not enrolled in Apple's program can download iPhone SDK 2.2.1 immediately.
