The first dual-core smartphone from Sony Ericsson is expected to make an appearance on shelves in the not too far future, and the fact that it leaked twice in a week is a clear indicator that things might indeed be this way.

The said device might arrive on the market under the name of Sony Ericsson Xperia duo, the latest reports on it suggest.

The mobile phone was spotted on Friday, and a new photo of it has made it into the wild now (via IT168), showing it next to the company's already official Xperia arc.

Apparently, the photo shows that the upcoming device would be a bit taller than the Xperia arc, which measures 125 mm, which means that it might sport a larger screen as well.

Compared to Xperia arc's 4.2-inches screen, the display on Sony Ericsson Xperia duo might very well prove to be a 4.5-inch one, though no specific info on the matter emerged for the time being.

Previously, the handset was rumored to come with a larger screen compared to existing mobile phones from Sony Ericsson, as well as with the Bravia engine technology present on other Android-based Xperia handsets from the company.

Specific details on the application processor that Sony Ericsson chose to pack inside this device lack as well, though there are only a few possibilities here, it seems: Nvidia, Qualcomm or TI.

No details on other specifications of the mobile phone emerged either, but there are great chances that it would be released with the Exmor-R backlit sensor as well.

The same as Sony Ericsson's latest Android-based devices, the yet unannounced dual-core smartphone might run under 2.3 Gingerbread, or even the next version of the platform, depending on its release time frame.

It might still take a while before official info on the availability and pricing of this device makes it into the wild, so stay tuned to learn the news.
