Buying and selling items has been made much easier with this new mechanic

Diablo 3 has been out for over two weeks and already plenty of players have gotten to know the game’s variety of features.

In this Gamer Diary series I’ve talked about the different classes and the funny followers but I also touched on the more controversial aspects, like the mandatory online connection.

Now, it’s time to discuss another sensitive issue, the Auction House.

In order to stomp out the black market that appeared for items in Diablo II, which was used by players who sold items to others for actual money, Blizzard has decided with Diablo III to make things official and get a cut of the profit.

As such, the game has an Auction House mechanic set up, just like in World of Warcraft, where players can bid in-game gold on items or, unlike the MMO, use real money.

As of yet, however, the Real Money Auction House (RMAH) is still delayed, so players can only buy items with in-game gold.

I’m the first to admit that I was extremely cautious concerning the Auction House and I was pretty content with avoiding it indefinitely, relying only on the gear I found in the game and the items that I traded with my friends.

Still, I gave it a try and, besides a few errors with the system, the whole experience was pretty good.

I sold quite a few important items on the Auction House and even bought some impressive weapons.

As a rule of thumb, before selling things, do a quick search for similar items to see what’s the average price. Also, remember to set a buyout amount, as I prefer to buy an item immediately instead of spending time in a bidding war with others.

When you want to buy things, remember to use the array of filters set up by Blizzard, as they’re extremely useful for finding the gear you want. Also, make sure to view more results, as there are some great deals on the third, fourth, or fifth pages.

Overall, my experience with the Auction House has been quite good. What about you? Did you manage to buy or sell items or have you avoided it?
