Pete Burns speaks of his plastic surgery addiction in new ABC special, says he’s not going to stop

On the same show that has Heidi Montag saying she wishes her doctor would have informed her of the consequences of plastic surgery, a painfully deformed Pete Burns talks about his own surgical nightmare – and how he doesn’t really regret anything about what he’s done to his face.

Pete Burns, for those for whom the name doesn’t really ring a bell, was once a pop icon: frontman of the band Dead or Alive, he was considered a very beautiful, albeit androgynous, man.

He started getting work done on his face: first, there was a bad nose job and then an intervention that almost killed him, when his lip implants got infected and the doctor who did them would not treat him properly.

On ABC’s TV special “Celebrity Plastic Surgery Gone Too Far,” Burns goes into (every gory) detail of the latter intervention, while also saying that not even that has cured him of his addiction to plastic surgery.

As long as he has a good doctor and seeing how easily he becomes bored of his own appearance, he will keep that surgeon on his speed dial, the former pop rock star says.

“Sometimes you’re just unlucky,” Burns says of his first intervention, the botched nose job. “And it was fixed. If it goes wrong and you can fix it, I don’t see why it’s any big drama,” he adds.

The video makes it more than clear that Burns’ face is now so deformed and damaged that it hardly moves when he speaks. It was many times worse after the lip infection that spread to his entire face.

“I developed rashes around the mouth, then I developed lumps. [The plastic surgeon] just kept injecting me [with steroids],” Burns says.

“My lip was at least 18 inches away from my face, the lower lip… When you wake up and your adam’s apple has come out… further than your jaw and one side of your face is so swollen you can’t open your eye and there’s yellow discharge, not just leaking squirting with a hiss it would squirt from my face,” the star explains.

“It was like one of the worse science fiction or horror movies you could ever see,” Burns says. Eventually, he found a surgeon to fix him: a man who specializes in operating on those whose faces have been “eaten away” by cancer.

“It was removing what amounted to pints of fluid that my body produced trying to fight this substance that was in me. I had 11 kidney stones, near liver failure, thrombosis, nearly lost sight in one eye, I couldn’t eat food… so for two years like that,” Burns says of his long way back to recovery.

Now, he looks like how you can see him in the attached photo, a combination of man, woman and plastic doll (his new cheeks have been compared to Jigsaw’s doll in the “Saw” franchise) but he doesn’t regret anything except for the lip infection episode.

He doesn’t plan on stopping from getting more work done either, he says. Below is the video, check it out.
