The move is almost official

Things seem to have been already carved in stone, so DROID Incredible owners out there should get the party started, as their high-end mobile phone is set to receive a software update to the latest Android flavor sometimes at the end of July or in early August. This would include the software solution that was said to be rolling-out to Incredible these days, and should come to handsets both with a series of other enhancements and with the long expected Froyo platform.

According to a recent article on BGR, a leaked email from HTC was the one to break the news. It seems that the company planned two software updates in the beginning, but changed its mind and included all the enhancements in a single MIR. According to the said email, the update is set to arrive in late July/early August, with improvements that would include: Android 2.2 Froyo, 802.11 n, 3G Mobile Hot Spot, HTC Widget: Email, HTC Widget: News, EAS Updates, 720p Video Recording, Amazon MP3, Skype, My Verizon.

Interestingly enough, it seems that the move was confirmed by some people over at Verizon, though in an unofficial manner. A tweet from these people linked to the BGR article, while a second tweet explains who they are: “Officially unofficial. We are official technical reps but are not endorsed directly by corporate. Which may be a good thing? :)”

All in all, it seems that HTC and Verizon are already gearing up for the enhancement. The Android 2.2 Froyo update should bring a nice range of new features into the mix, which would add to an already highly appealing mobile phones as Incredible is. The one thing that still has been solved is the stock issue Verizon has with this phone, and which prevents more people from benefiting from its capabilities. Hopefully, HTC will manage to ship more handsets to Big Red, and the device would be sent out to customers in due time.
