The recent leak of an incomplete build of Crysis 2 onto torrent sites won't affect the dedication of its developer, Crytek to the PC platform, at least according to an official statement from studio boss Cevat Yerli.

Crysis 2 is set to be one of the most important games of the year, once again trying to showcase its technical advancements on the PC platform, but also on consoles.

Sadly, its debut, scheduled for March, was cut short, as an incomplete beta build of the game was leaked onto torrent sites where pirates downloaded in the hundreds of thousands.

Crytek, its developer, and Electronic Arts, its publisher, have expressed their disappointment at the beginning of the week.

Now, the boss of the German studio, Cevat Yerli, issued a formal statement to the community of fans.

"As you all have heard by now, an early, incomplete build of Crysis 2 has been leaked online. While we are deeply disappointed by these events, we are all completely overwhelmed by the support we have received from you, our community," said Yerli.

This won't affect the commitment of Crytek to the PC platform, however.

"Despite this unfortunate incident, we can assure you that PC gaming is very important to us and will always be important to Crytek in the future. We are all still focused on delivering a great gaming experience to our true and honest fans. I hope you will enjoy Crysis 2 on PC, as we think it is our best PC game yet!"

"We appreciate all of your continued support, and look forward to playing online with you soon!"

Crysis 2, unlike its predecessor, will also appear on consoles like the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, not just on the PC, but, like the original, will look the best on high-end computers with enough power to render all of the features of its CryEngine 3 technology.

The game is set to appear on March 22, in North America, and March 25, in Europe.
