Crytek, the developer, and Electronic Arts, the publisher, have announced that a multiplayer-focused demo version for their upcoming first-person shooter Crysis 2 will be released on the PC on March 1, allowing players to see what the second game in the series offers and how the all-new multiplayer mode can keep them engaged.

The demo includes two maps that will also be part of the full game: “Skyline” which, as the name implies, takes place in the upper levels and on the rooftops of skyscrapers, and “Pier 17,” a map that takes place on ground level and has very limited cover, forcing players to move more in order to avoid becoming targets.

The main mode offered in the multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 allows teams of six gamers to face off against one another and see who is the most skilled.

There are two other modes included: “Team Instant Action,” which focuses on two teams that compete to get as many kills before the round ends, and “Crash Site,” a mode that is build around territory control and features an alien ship and its drop pods.

Crytek and Electronic Arts hope that those who download the demo and enjoy it will pre-order Crysis 2 and thus have created a Special Edition of the game, which comes with: Platinum Dog Tag, one of the collectables which will be included in the multiplayer field, separating the best players from the rest; SCAR weapon skin, allows gamers to personalize their killing tool; SCAR hologram decoy, a tool specifically designed for players to disorient their enemies and sneak up on them; bonus Experience Points, which allows those who pre-order to access all classes and load-outs.

Crysis 2 has a launch date of March 22 and will be available on the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and, of course, the PC.
