Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion and wireless carrier Chunghwa Telecom have just announced the launch of BlackBerry smartphone and services on the market in Taiwan.

The launch should provide enterprise customers and consumers in the country with attractive mobile solutions, the wireless services provider announced.

According to the agreement, ChungHwa Telecom will launch the new BlackBerry Torch smartphone on the market, along with a series of BlackBerry service plans on its 3G network.

“ChungHwa Telecom is also offering subscribers monthly International Roaming for BlackBerry data service covering 23 countries,” the duo announced.

Through this agreement enterprise customers would have the possibility to enjoy the BlackBerry Enterprise Solution on ChungHwa Telecom's network.

The service offer integration with IBM Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange and Novell GroupWise, and provides IT administrators with secure, push-based wireless access to email and other corporate data.

Moreover, the offering includes the BlackBerry Internet Service, aimed mainly at individuals and small businesses, through which one can get access to up to 10 supported corporate and personal email accounts (including Yahoo! Mail and Google Mail) from the smartphone.

“The BlackBerry solution offers a powerful and unique experience for ChungHwa Telecom’s enterprise customers and consumers, allowing them to stay easily connected to people and information while on the move,” said Norm Lo, Vice President of Asia Pacific at RIM.

“In addition, BlackBerry Torch, together with BlackBerry 6, combines the benefits of a large capacitive touch screen and a BlackBerry keyboard and offers outstanding business, entertainment and social networking features, making it an ideal choice for both business and personal use.

“We are very happy to work with ChungHwa Telecom and we look forward to expanding our presence in both the enterprise and consumer market segments.”

Moreover, the wireless carrier will offer a series of managed communications services through a partnership with Vodafone, aimed at multi-national enterprises looking to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
