14 DAY TRIAL // In September last year, confirmation came that Christina Milian had married The-Dream in a very hush-hush ceremony in Las Vegas, at the same chapel when Britney Spears also got hitched the first time. Fans could only hope their marriage would last longer than Britney’s – and it did, but only by a little under three months. Both The-Dream and Christina have confirmed they ended their relationship, E! Online informs.
The-Dreams statement comes only hours after photos of him and his “assistant” were spotted together on the beach acting very much like a real couple. In it, the producer’s spokesperson confirms the obvious, namely that he and Christina are no longer together, while also pointing out that they have not been a couple for quite some time now. They only refrained from going public for the sake of their daughter Violet, the statement also says.
“Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful. The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter, Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family moving forward,” the rep tells E! “The rep didn’t confirm an exact split, but even with the benefit of the doubt, the marriage wouldn’t have lasted longer than a whopping 90 days. The duo tied the knot in Las Vegas on Sept. 4 of last year. The quickie ceremony came a couple months after the couple went public with their not-so-secret engagement and just one month after they confirmed they were expecting their first child,” the e-zine goes on to explain.
The early separation also explains why the two did not put up a united front for the announcement of their baby Violet and why Christina was the only one to grace the covers of the glossies when she introduced her daughter to the world. “In any case, The-Dream’s confirmation of a split waited until the last possible reputation-saving minute, as it comes on the same day that photos emerged of the hip-hop star gallivanting and otherwise getting straddled by an unidentified woman. But certainly not Christina,” E! further says.
Since said photos emerged online, Christina has also confirmed the split, though in fewer words than The-Dream. “Whatever you think, believe it,” she tweeted in response to questions about the pictures.
