It looks like Capcom has decided to enter the 3D game market for smartphones. The company has announced that 3D versions of three of its critically acclaimed titles, “Mega Man”, “Ghosts 'n Goblins: Gold Knights”, and “Resident Evil: Degeneration” will be bundled on smartphones running on the Android platform.

The first Android smartphones to feature the games will be the Galapagos 003SH and 005SH, both from Japanese carrier Softbank Mobile. “Mega Man” and “Resident Evil: Degeneration” games are widely spread in Japan under different names, “Rockman” and “Biohazard: Degeneration”, respectively.

The company chose the above mentioned smartphones for their games because they both feature 3D screens. These phones use their large 3D liquid crystal display to create a dynamic 3D effect that can be viewed without special glasses, for an enhanced gameplay experience.

“In using the Android operating system, an open-platform OS that is compatible with the smartphones of multiple carriers, we can aggressively target the smartphone market as a whole,” Haruhiro Tsujimoto, President and COO.

“This is all part of Capcom's multi-platform strategy for our content, exceeding beyond home consoles and reaching into the mobile market as well,” added Tsujimoto.

Originally launched for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, “Mega Man” is an action game that features unique characters and addictive gameplay, which turn it into one of the most successful games at that time.

Ghosts 'n Goblins: Gold Knights” is the latest game of the “Ghosts 'n Goblins” series. The action-packed game challenges players to solve puzzles and battle enemies in their quest to rescue captured maidens, by taking control of one of the two knight characters.

Well-known for its “Resident Evil” action horror games, Capcom has based “Resident Evil: Degeneration” for Android on the series' first CG (computer-generated) animated motion picture.
