Just like that huh? Why is Nintendo showing these figures anyway, to tease PlayStation fans?

At the time Nintendo launched their handheld, the Nintendo DS, people were skeptical. Some looked at its shape and said that it wouldn't sell just because of that, others thought that the handheld's two screens would become confusing for a player and with Sony's sexy PSP out there as well, few thought that Nintendo's portable gaming device would win the battle.

Thing is, Nintendo hit the jackpot again, with an all time winner for the portable category and although the device launched 2 years and a half ago (its clunky version that is) it still sells like hot cake, only this time around, people go for the lighter one, the DS Lite. So how did the handheld manage to sell 3 million units in the UK alone? Well, its 2 screens, one of which has touchscreen capabilities should have done the trick alone, but then there are the titles: Brain Training, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, oh and let's not forget Mario. These are just some titles that made the handheld what it is today and not only in the UK, but everywhere around the world.

And just like any respectable handheld should be today, the NDS has a Wi-Fi USB Connector, an MP3 Player, an Internet browser (Opera, just like the Wii), download play, supporting game cards up to 1 gig. Sales figures also say that apparently, the NDS accounts for 68% of the handheld market so far in 2007. So that's your handheld champion for you. Let's see how Sony answers to this with their upcoming improved PSP, which promises to be lighter and all pimped out, having the same large screen, which is its most impressive feature.
