Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is expected to come to the market with a new handset in its popular Bold series, the BlackBerry Bold 9780, which should be released as the successor of the second Bold out there, the Bold 9700.

Although nothing official was announced for the time being on the availability of this handset, things seem to have been almost confirmed.

Following a long list of leaks on BlackBerry 9780, including photos, videos and specs lists, the handset has just appeared on RIM's support website, though the device itself cannot be seen there.

RIM lists a BlackBerry Bold 9780 Demo page on its support website, inaccessible at the moment, though it confirms the existence of the new device, as well as a possible near launch.

In case there are some who did not keep an eye on the news regarding the Bold 9780 lately, we should note that the new smartphone is expected to arrive on shelves as soon as this month.

Rumor has it that Canadian wireless carriers plan on adding the device to their offering before the end of October, not to mention that the device is expected to arrive on the UK in the near future too.

According to previous reports, both T-Mobile and Vodafone UK plan ranging the new handset, though none confirmed these plans officially.

However, the successor of Bold 9700 should not be too far in the future, and RIM might announce it officially in a matter of weeks, if not days.

When compared to the older Bold 2 smartphone, the new 9780 model would include a faster processor, complemented by a higher amount of RAM.

At the same time, the handset should include more storage space, along with other enhancements, in addition to being optimized for use with the new BlackBerry 6 operating system, which wouldn't go along too well with the hardware inside the older model.
