Call of Duty: Black Ops, the first person shooter from developer Treyarch and publisher Activision Blizzard, has managed to keep the number one place in the United Kingdom video game chart, managing to fend off the challenge coming from the Cataclysm expansion from Blizzard made MMO World of Warcraft.

Call of Duty seems to be on track to keep the first position until Christmas and beyond that, possibly until the launch of Dead Space 2 in January, showing that Treyarch can craft a blockbuster title in the series and that Activision can still rely on its biggest franchise to generate revenue for quite some time.

FIFA 11 from EA Sports sits in second place, unchanged from last week, just as the Premier League title fight intensifies in the United Kingdom.

Cataclysm, which is already reported to have sold more than 3 million copies in its first day on sales, has managed to capture the number three spot in the United Kingdom and will probably stay in the top ten for quite some time.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, the action adventure title from Ubisoft, has been the first victim of Cataclysm, pushed down one place to number four and the effect propagated even further down the chart.

Gran Turismo 5 from developer Polyphony Digital and publisher Sony is not sitting pretty in fifth position, down one, while Just Dance 2 from Ubisoft, the simple dancing title aimed at more casual audiences, is in sixth.

Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit from Electronic Arts and Criterion is the first title in the United Kingdom chart which stops the slide in seventh place while eight place goes to Donkey Kong Country Returns from Nintendo which managed to make a comeback into the top ten.

Professor Layton captures ninth place this week while Michael Jackson: The Experience from Ubisoft is in tenth place, coming from number 6.

Wii Party has left the top ten.
