After several networks tried to land the first Casey Anthony post-jail interview and gave up earlier this year, it seems she’s again sought out for a tete-a-tete. This time, it’s Barbara Walters who’s courting her, it has emerged.

Anthony, who was recently cleared of the murder of her 2-year-old daughter but is considered guilty by many Americans, has not said a peep since coming out of jail after the acquittal.

All this time, rumors are making the rounds that she’s either in hiding and planning to stay there for the rest of her life, or thinking of moving to another country and getting a surgical makeover.

An interview would presumably put these rumors to rest, while also offering the people at home Anthony’s side of the story in the controversial trial that captured the attention of the public like no other before.

If all goes well, Walters might be getting Anthony to open up about this soon enough, TMZ says.

The celebrity gossip e-zine / paparazzi agency caught up with the iconic television personality as she was leaving a restaurant where she had dinner with Anthony’s defense attorney.

“Casey Anthony’s attorney, Jose Baez, had dinner with Barbara Walters Sunday night. She was clearly trying to butter him up for an interview with his infamous client,” the e-zine writes.

Walters and Baez weren’t alone either.

“Baez, his wife, Walters and Frank Langella (they had just gone to see his play) all dined at Orso in Manhattan for Jose’s birthday. Our photog tried getting details about a possible asking price for the interview – but no one was talking,” TMZ further reports.

“According to our sources, Casey isn’t ready to tell her tale just yet. Clearly BW wants dibs,” the e-zine notes.

In July this year, shortly after Anthony’s release from prison, word got out that all the major networks were locked in a fierce bidding war to secure an exclusive with her.

NBC was reportedly the frontrunner in the race, having already expressed its intention of paying the big bucks for an exclusive interview – a report network bosses were quick to deny after cries for boycott from viewers at home.
