505 Games and Bohemia Interactive are sending word that Armed Assault II, aka ArmA, is set to arrive in Europe on the PC on June 26. The new military shooter aims to offer an even more realistic experience than the first one in the series, while introducing new features requested by gamers.

Bohemia Interactive is saying that ArmA should offer “the most realistic warfare ever” with a focus on team-based tactics and a huge battlefield on which to put those into practice.

The action is set inside the fictional ex Soviet republic of Chernarus, where several factions are battling for supremacy. The players will take on the role of United States Marines from a Force Recon detachment deployed to be peace keepers. There are different ways of approaching all the tactical situations and a complex arsenal of weapons that can be used by the Marines.

Alex Price, who is the senior global brand manager at 505 Games, has stated that “It has been a pleasure building on the success of the first ArmA title. ArmA has such a vociferous community behind it that we new [sic] we had to get this one absolutely right. We are confident that the dedicated fans won’t be disappointed as will [sic] as any newcomers to the series.”

Bohemia is emphasizing the power of its engine, which has been used by militaries around the world to create simulations. Now, players can experience the same kind of battle situations that are used in training by the United States Marine Corps, the UK Ministry of Defence and the Australian Defence Force.

ArmA II is also set to deliver an interesting story supporting the various combat scenarios depicted, with a lot of political intrigue and some twists. We'll get to experience them all on June 26, when Armed Assault II is launched.
