Following a long series of months, Motorola CLIQ owners out there can finally upgrade their devices to the Andorid 2.1 Eclair operating system version. The 2.1.5 upgrade for Motorola CLIQ was just announced as being available for download, with all the enhancements Android 2.1and the new MOTOBLUR can offer.

According to the handset vendor, the new software update was made available for all Motorola/T-Mobile USA CLIQ users out there.

The company also stated that the upgrade to the new OS version should take around 40 minutes, all depending on the Internet connection one has.

Moreover, Motorola notes that, following the upgrade, the handset will need about 10 minutes tu power up for the first time.

While the upgrade should keep some of user's files in place, others will be lost, including Ringtones, Volume, Display, Screen Lock password, Wallpaper, Shazam app, Contact shortcuts, Corporate Sync passwords, and Instant Messaging login information.

Following the upgrade, the myFaves and Mobile Backup apps will no longer be available, and users will have to sign back in to your Google account to restore Google Contacts, Google Calendar, and Gmail.

At the same time, the company notes that the available memory on the smartphone will be reduced by about 40MB following the upgrade, and that the syncing of contacts and email from Google and MOTOBLUR will take about 60 minutes.

We should also note that handsets would have to be on the latest releases of software to receive the upgrade (Blur_Version.1.4.8.MB200.T-Mobile.en.US or higher).

Some of the main enhancements the software solution comes with include: - More Google apps – Google Speech-to-Text, Google Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Google Voice Search and others have been added to make your CLIQ device even more functional - Android Market - Access to a larger range of apps specifically designed for devices using Android 2.0 or later - More home screen panels –7 customizable home screen panels so you have more room for your shortcuts and widgets - New and enhanced widgets – Customizable filters, ability to resize widgets, plus new widgets like Contact Quick Tasks and Sticky Note - Corporate email access – Corporate email can now be pushed immediately to your phone - Improved multimedia apps - Media Gallery and Connected Music Player have been enhanced for better interaction with your media

Other features of the new upgrade include 7 screens, widgets resizing, customizations for the Happenings and Messaging widgets, Task Manager, Connected Music Player, Sticky Note widget, and more.
