Actress says family and her health are more important than being stick thin

While looking good is part of the job and knowing that only too well, Amy Adams has never really gone out of her way to shift a few extra pounds. In a new interview, the star says she'd rather be healthy and happy than stick thin.

Adams, who will grace the silver screen next as Superman's love interest in “Man of Steel” and, before that, with the “Muppets” movie, tells InStyle (quotes via People) that motherhood has altered her figure completely but she doesn't like to fuss too much over it.

She welcomed daughter Aviana in May 2010 but you can still see the signs of the pregnancy on her body, Amy reveals for the magazine.

To put it simply, she doesn't understand at all how other stars do it, how they manage to get their pre-pregnancy body back in a matter of a few months, sometimes even less.

“I read about these actresses who get on a stationary bike two weeks after giving birth and I’m like, ‘What? Where did you push your baby out of?’” Amy says.

“Since having Aviana, I have a muffin top, and that’s okay right now,” she underlines.

It's okay because her number one priority is not losing the extra weight, as neither is it making as many movies as possible.

Right now, her priority is to be with her family and, of course, to maintain her health.

“I have to trust that I can prioritize my family and myself while still finding the energy and focus for my work. And I believe I can. I know I can,” she says.

Just because she can doesn't mean it's easy.

“I’m definitely not one of those women who make it look easy. I’m always running late – and look, there’s guacamole on my purse! But I’m more patient than I ever thought I would be, and I’m not so hard on myself anymore,” she says.

In the same interview, Amy reveals she and partner Darren Le Gallo have been talking about getting married a lot in recent months, but they can't seem to be able to set a date.
