Actress Amy Adams knows that part of her job is to look good – at the same time, she also believes she never had a “rockin’ body” to start with, so she isn’t really feeling the pressure to lose the weight she gained while pregnant.

Now seen in the drama “The Fighter,” a low budget film also starring Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg that is now playing in limited release and is getting major Oscar buzz, Adams is the cover girl of the latest issue of Parade magazine.

In the accompanying interview, Amy speaks of the joys of parenthood, her beautiful baby girl and whether she’s feeling the pressure to lose the extra pounds fast to get her pre-pregnancy body.

Not really so, she says. The star understands that what’s more important for her and her baby right now is her health and not to quickly lose the few extra pounds she has on.

“Being pregnant finally helped me understand what my true relationship was with my body – meaning that it wasn’t put on this earth to look good in a swimsuit,” she tells the mag about the very important discovery she made while with child.

“I was like, ‘Look, I can carry a baby! I’m gaining weight right, everything is going well.’ And I’ve had that relationship ever since,” says the actress.

Of course, not being in a hurry to lose weight doesn’t mean that she’s letting herself go completely: she still works out and watches what she eats, she’s just not taking it to the extreme.

“I’ve been working out when I can... but losing weight is not my number one priority. It’s part of my job to return to some semblance of what I was before,” Adam shares.

“But I don’t feel I’ve ever made my career on my rockin’ bod,” the actress jokes. She and fiancé Darren Le Gallo welcomed their baby daughter in May.
