Wireless carrier Alltel recently announced that its users would soon have yet another mobile phone at their disposal, namely the HTC Snap. The new handset, powered by Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system, comes with a wide range of both business and entertainment features, and is already available for purchase from Alltel Wireless' retail stores and on its website.

“The HTC Snap brings together a perfect combination of fun and entertainment with the technical capabilities of a device made for business,” said Wendy Michell, Director of Device Strategies for the Alltel Divesture Trust. “Alltel customers throughout our territory will enjoy the handset’s look and feel along with its broad range of features.”

The features list of the new mobile phone includes Wi-Fi connectivity, along with support for Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A, a four-row QWERTY keyboard, Microsoft Outlook Mobile, or the “Inner Circle” feature that enables users to prioritize important messages from their contacts. The HTC Snap also offers streaming audio and video capabilities, fast Internet browsing, and improved email and messaging functionality.

When it comes to the specifications of the new device, we can count a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper with digital zoom, 256 MB of on-board storage, a microSD memory card slot that supports up to 32GB of additional storage space, Bluetooth 2.0 stereo capabilities, USB port, and a battery that can deliver up to 318 minutes of continuous talk time.

Alltel has the new mobile phone available for its customers at a price tag of $79.99 upon the signing of a contract agreement and after a $70 mail-in rebate. An Alltel Wireless Smart Choice pack (starting at $69.99) should be chosen for the offer, and users will also benefit from national voice minutes, or unlimited Internet browsing and e-mail. The carrier also adds that the offer is available for “customers in the 91 cellular market areas (CMAs) that Verizon Wireless is required to divest.” More details can be found on the carrier's website.
