SEGA joins in, too

Apparently, the leaked information from Intellisponse regarding the new game offering coming from Activision was pretty much on the wrong side. The company is now saying that it only offers "game concepts" to market research companies, and that most of these are then discarded prior to development beginning on the definitive version for a game. Activision is not confirming or denying any of the names that were mentioned in the leaked data, but it is cautioning fans and gamers that anything that does not come directly from the company should be taken with a grain of salt.

Activision officially stated: "We regularly test all kinds of game concepts and pricing strategies using market research, all of which are options whose outcomes are yet to be determined." The Tony Hawk franchise is currently on hiatus because Activision is really keen on re-making the game so that it can compete with Skate, the skateboarding game from Electronic Arts. The leaked documents were throwing around names for the new games like Tony Hawk's Amplitude, Tony Hawk's Adrenaline and Tony Hawk's Huck Jam (the meaning of the last title is lost on me).

The Intellisponse data also mentioned a lot of possible concepts regarding a future Spider-Man game, including one in which Spidey got to test his skills against zombies and another one which was classified as being a real time strategy game. There were also mentions of a Wii peripheral that could be used to simulate the web launching mechanic on the Nintendo Wii. Probably only one of the mentioned concepts will get the green light for development.

SEGA also responded to rumors that Silicon Knights was developing a Diablo II-like game called The Crucible. A spokesperson declared "I can confirm that SK are not working on The Crucible for SEGA," even though the fact that Silicon Knights was developing a title for SEGA was acknowledged.
