Although it was announced way back in May 2010, Acer's Aspire RevoView networked media player sure took its sweet time before arriving on the market, but it would seem that the manufacturer has managed to get it ready and running just in time for the most important shopping season of the year, namely Christmas. Those of you who're not quite familiar with the RevoView should know that what we're talking about here is a HD DLNA certified media player that can playback media content from all DLNA certified devices, while in the same time featuring network capability and Full HD 1080p playback via the built-in HDMI interface. In order to provide plenty of space for one's storage requirements, the Aspire RevoView can be equipped with an internal swappable 3.5-inch HDD for seamless media exchange, and we'll also have to mention that the HDD tray can be shared with the 2010 Aspire M Series desktop PCs, for extra versatility in terms of access to content. Speaking of content, though, we'll also have to point out that, similar to most other media players available out there, Acer's RevoView also packs an SD memory card reader (that can really come in handy for viewing photos directly after taking them) and USB ports, for hooking-up various external USB storage solutions. An Ethernet port provides direct access to the Internet, while the user friendly interface brings together all available media, permitting to effortlessly navigate through music, video and photo collections (content can be displayed by folder, list or thumbnails and it can be sorted either alphabetically or by date). The Aspire RevoView comes with a handy 26 keys remote control permitting to easily work media playback functions from afar, while the main functions, such as videos, photos and music are quickly accessible through dedicated hotkeys. And now, for the moment you've all been waiting for, namely the pricing and availability information. According to Acer, their RevoView networked HD media player should go on sale in the UK on November 8'th, pricing being set at a cool 120 pounds sterling (193 US dollars), which is more or less in-line with pricing for the other European markets the device is shipping to.
