On Monday, wireless carrier AT&T announced the launch of a new application for handsets running under Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 operating system, namely AT&T U-verse Mobile App.

The new application is being delivered to the new HTC Surround and Samsung Focus smartphones, both launched on Monday at the carrier, and should also arrive on LG Quantum, the carrier's next Windows Phone 7 device.

According to the wireless carrier, the U-verse Mobile app gets pre-loaded on all AT&T Windows Phone 7 devices so that users can benefit from TV shows on their devices.

On top of that, the wireless carrier announced the availability of some new offers for its users for the holiday season.

“Any AT&T Windows Phone user can log-in to U-verse Mobile by Dec. 31 and download and watch free for 30-days. Once the trial is complete, customers taking advantage of this offer will automatically be subscribed to U-verse Mobile for $9.99 per month,” the wireless carrier announced.

At the same time, the company notes that U-verse TV customers subscribing to the U100, U200 and U200 Latino packages will enjoy a limited trial period during with they can download and watch with U-verse Mobile without paying extra.

U-verse Mobile offers users the possibility to browse or search a series of downloadable shows, while also offering users the possibility to select the specific episodes they would like to download.

Mobile phone users can download the content over any Wi-Fi connection, while being able to watch the content no matter their location.

“There’s no better way to stay entertained during the holiday travel season than to watch hit TV shows on the go for free with U-verse Mobile,” said Jeff Weber, vice president of video services, AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

“We’re excited for more AT&T customers to see what the U-verse experience is all about, and we’ll continue to expand this app to even more customers and devices.”

The wireless carrier also notes that it is committed to bring TV watching to as many devices as possible, via U-verse TV, U-verse Online, U-verse TV on Xbox 360, and U-verse Mobile.
