This has been the first (partial) week of the fall and that means that big launches like Halo: Reach and Civilization V and Call of Duty: Black Ops are just around the corner.

But until then we have a Weekend Reading feature talking about how publishers should split the single player and the multiplayer in upcoming video games to make sure that players get what they are interested in and an EndWeekGame feature that focuses on Dune Wars, a complex mod for Civilization IV.

And we also have a selection of the most interesting news of the seven days that have passed.

On Monday we found out that the new DLC pack for Red Dead Redemption was set to arrive on September 21, adding more multiplayer events and more gang hideouts to take out.

On the same day Bungie also talked about post launch support for Halo: Reach, which is set to be focused on making sure that multiplayer fans have more content to play around with.

Tuesday was the day when Electronic Arts started the rumors flowing about The Sims 4 by registering an Internet domain linked to the game just after their announcement linked to The Sims Medieval.

At the same time the main designer of Gran Turismo 5 advised fans to prepare 10 GB of hard drive space to install the game and ensure a smooth experience.

On Wednesday Microsoft confirmed rumors that it was working on a new Wireless Xbox 360 Controller, with little color and a redesigned D-Pad that offers more accuracy.

In the meantime Ed Boon, the creator of Mortal Kombat, talked about how his next game in the series will be more aggressive yet acceptable.

Thursday we heard from Sony about the three dimensional update for the PlayStation 3, which is now set to arrive in October, just as Steve Jobs, the chief of Apple, talked about the iPod Touch as the most popular mobile gaming device.

Friday GameStop announced that it would not be selling Medal of Honor at locations near military bases in the United States while Activision kicked off the campaign which is set to make Black Ops a better seller than Modern Warfare 2.
