It's been another busy week for gamers around the world, as Sony was struck by another hacker attack, Nintendo made a price cut to its Wii and EA made quite a few announcements.

First off, we took a quick look at The First Templar this week, complete with a gameplay video of the action adventure title, and you can also enjoy a special Weekend Reading piece that talks about Sony's PSN woes and how other online services might also be vulnerable to outside attacks, as well as the regular EndWeekGame article.

Now, let's start our weekly recap of the biggest gaming news from the past 7 days.

On Monday, Sony issued a brand new statement about its PlayStation Network, in which it talked about the PSN outage and how it wants to get the service back online this week. Electronic Arts also took the chance to confirm its brand new racing game, in the form of Need for Speed: The Run, which is running on the special Frostbite 2 engine.

On Tuesday, Sony Online Entertainment admitted that its own databases were hacked, and that 24.6 million user accounts were compromised by intruders, meaning that it needs to keep its variety of online games offline until its investigations are completed. This was also the day when Activision and Treyarch launched the Escalation DLC for the Call of Duty: Black Ops.

On Wednesday, Nintendo made an official price cut to the Wii home console, which is set to cost just $149.99 starting on May 15, thanks to a Mario Kart bundle. A disgruntled PSN user also forwarded a special lawsuit against Sony, demanding 1 million Canadian dollars as damages from the company.

EA made another announcement on Thursday, saying that Mass Effect 3 has been delayed until 2012, so that BioWare, its developer, will have enough time to polish it up for its release. Sticking with EA, its Sports division also revealed that all-new game engine that will be at the heart of the upcoming FIFA 12 soccer (football) simulator.

On Friday, Ubisoft finally showcased its brand new Assassin's Creed game, subtitled Revelations, which will once again focus on Ezio Auditore, the protagonist of the last two releases in the franchise. We also found out that another PlayStation Network attack was set to be made by hackers.
