This is my first week back, doing the Gamer's Week roundup after two weeks away and I must say that it's a good week to come back, just before the beginning of August and the important game releases that it is set to bring.

[ADMARk=1]This week we have created a full Softpedia review of Alice: Madness Returns and a Quick Look at the new Panzer Corps turn-based strategy.

And From Dust also got a Quick View.

We also have a Weekend Reading piece about XCOM and the future of strategy gaming, one about the great female Shepard debate and one about the price cut that Nintendo announced for the 3DS and also a EndWeekGame segment about what we played during our free time.

And, as always, we also bring readers a selection of the most important news of the week that was.

On Monday, Take Two talked about this year's edition of NBA 2K12, showing off the three legendary cover for the game, while analysts talked about the upcoming Wii U home console, saying that the price tag will be largely responsible for its success or its failure.

Tuesday was the day when BioWare and Electronic Arts talked about the MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic, saying that it would be running and prospering until 2025, while Sony offered more information on the connectivity and the social features of the PlayStation Vita handheld.

On Wednesday, the developers at DICE offered information on the alpha and the beta stages for their upcoming first-person shooter Battlefield 3 while Electronic Arts announced that The Old Republic had broken the pre-order record and was headed for a good, solid launch.

On Thursday, the developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 talked about how they would handle their own New York terror attack, taking into account 9/11, while Facebook referred to its gaming projects, saying that romance would probably be one genre to quickly catch on the social network.

On Friday, we found out both the launch date for Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 and the cover stars for FIFA 12.
