This week, it's been all cloak and dagger here at Softpedia as we've played Assassin's Creed II for a review but we've also written our usual Weekend Reading and EndWeekGame pieces to give you something interesting to read. And, of course, we have a selection of this week’s news to take a look at.

On Monday, we talked about the PC market and the titles that dominated it in 2009. Surprisingly, The Sims 3 managed to perform better than World of Warcraft and its various expansions. Other notable entries were Dragon Age: Origins, and Empire: Total War. We also took a quick look at Avatar: The Game to see how it measures up with the movie made by James Cameron.

On Tuesday, we got a spectacular glimpse into the universe of the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator videogame, with the killing moves of the characters shown off. We talked again about Avatar, with the Ubisoft CEO blaming the poor performance of the game on the late release date of the movie, which narrowed its sales window.

On Wednesday, we talked about big franchises as Sony let on that it was ready to release more God of War videogames in the coming year, although it might no longer feature the iconic Kratos character. Meanwhile, the PC version of Modern Warfare 2 got a new patch that would probably fix some multiplayer exploit while also introducing a new one for players to discover in the coming days.

Thursday was all about surprising moves as Crysis 2 was confirmed as taking place in New York City, which would presumably be turned into a tropical island by the aliens, and as Criterion confirmed that it would no longer put out any DLC for Burnout Paradise, concentrating on the next Need for Speed.

Finally, on Friday, we found out about the regrets that Epic Games should be feeling about its exclusive deal with Microsoft related to the Gears of War saga only to later read that, in fact, there was none.
