No end to the franchise

God of War III is one of the big PlayStation 3 exclusives set to arrive this year and boost the Sony gaming platform. The game, the first in the series that comes to the PS3, will offer players enhanced graphics, more fluid action and some of the biggest battles they have ever seen.

And those who were worried that God of War III might be the end of Kratos should be satisfied by recent comments made by people who are directly working on the franchise.

John Hight, who is the director of product development at the Santa Monica Sony studios, told Gamervision in an interview that “This is definitely the end of the trilogy, but we're going to continue to do God of War games. We're going to be very careful about what we do; we're the keepers of the franchise and we don't want to see it ruined or polluted.”

In God of War III, Kratos is set to go up against the whole pantheon of the Greek Gods. Game director Stig Asmussen has confirmed that Hades, Poseidon, Helios, Hermes, Apollo and even Zeus will be targets for Kratos' blades as he makes his way through Olympus and seeks to put an end to an entire era of mythology.

It's not clear how the series could go on after this third installment and what enemies the main character might take on in the name of revenge. After all, if he actually engages Zeus and defeats him in combat, there are not many enemies Kratos cannot handle.

Of course, Sony will not be interested in ending the God of War franchise because it is one of the most instantly recognizable PlayStation platform exclusives. The first and second games were showcased for the power of the earlier generation and God of War III will probably provide a powerful boost to the sales of the PlayStation 3.
