The only two reviews we have so late in the year are one for the PC version of Sonic Generations, which can be summed up as a fun and speedy Sonic game that fails to take the platform it launched on in consideration, and one for the beautiful Trine 2, which mixes color and puzzles in surprising ways.

To compensate we continue to deliver new entries in our Softpedia Game of the Year series, getting ready for the major awards to come in the next few weeks.

We also have a Quick Look for the recently launched FlatOut 3: Chaos and Destruction, complete with video evidence of how it plays.

And we also have one Weekend Reading piece about the importance of graphics for the future of video games and one about the VGA awards and the sequel run, joined by an EndWeekGame piece about what we are currently playing.

And, at last, let’s review a selection of the news of last week.

On Monday Sony and Naughty Dog offered information on The Last of Us, saying that it was more of a love story than a straight up survival title, while Bethesda talked about the possible expansions for Skyrim and about the glitches that they love and might never fix.

Tuesday it was all about first person shooters as a new hotfix was launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 while Battlefield 3 got a patch on the Xbox 360 and a new expansion.

Wednesday the Xbox 360 home console from Microsoft got access to a number of new television oriented applications while Shigeru Miyamoto suggested that some of his upcoming projects might be linked to the Nintendo 3DS.

Thursday Nintendo finally was ready to launch the Ambassador games for dedicated 3DS gamers while Infinity Ward confirmed that it would deliver new game modes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 during the weekend.

Friday launched a Witcher 2 oriented legal barrage at pirates while rumors suggested a new designer and new orientation for the new gaming console from Microsoft.
