The first week of April has been quite a busy one for gamers, as all sorts of news, rumors, and reports appeared on the web about many great titles, consoles, and upcoming devices.

Here at Softpedia we posted a variety of original content, starting with our review for BattleBlock Theater, our preview of Might & Magic Heroes VI: Shades of Darkness, our exclusive interview with Victoria II: Heart of Darkness Designer Chris King, not to mention our Gamer Diaries about BioShock Infinite and Gears of War Judgment, as well as our Weekend Reading articles about the Xbox 720's always-on internet connection requirement and school maps in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

On April 1, for April Fools, we were treated with plenty of great pranks, including one from Blizzard for StarCraft 2 players, in which it introduced the Warhound unit for every faction, and a joke from Sports Interactive, who revealed Football Manager 1888, a truly old-school soccer management simulator.

On April 2, Borderlands 2 received not just a new update but also a DLC that raised its level cap and introduced plenty of new things. Meanwhile, Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter expressed his thoughts on not reprising his role in Metal Gear Solid 5.

April 3 saw GameStop predict that the Xbox 720 will be a compelling next-generation console, while DICE talked more about Battlefield 4's story and how it was much more dramatic.

On April 4, the Call of Duty: Blacks Ops 2 Uprising DLC became official, with Treyarch confirming the new add-on. We also heard a new report claiming that the next Xbox 720 required a constant internet connection and wouldn't even allow owners to play games without online access.

April 5 saw another developer hint at the necessity for online access for the Xbox 720, while Epic Games expressed its desire for next-gen consoles to deliver convenience to players.

On April 6, we revealed Microsoft's apology about the statements of one of its creative directors, who mentioned that gamers without internet access should "get with the times." Sega also chose the day to confirmed that Aliens: Colonial Marines was no longer coming to the Wii U console.

We hope you had a great week browsing the games section of Softpedia and keep coming back for the latest news and content about your favorite games.
