Being a fallen God

These days, my gaming time has been all about God of War 3 and about the journey Kratos made to Zeus and the conclusion of the series. We have a review for God of War 3 up and there is also a series of diaries addressing more particular elements of the game that are available. We also have a Weekend Reading feature that deals with how even the much hated QTE can be well implemented in the game featuring Kratos and an EndWeekGame piece that deals with a bit of retro gaming. And, of course, we have a selection of the finest news that we came across the past week.

On Monday, we were off engorging on Easter food and drinking copious amounts of wine, which allowed us to return with renewed vigor on Tuesday and talk about one of the biggest gaming rivalries of the moment. Infinity Ward was said to lose even more key personnel, which might affect future development of DLC packs for Modern Warfare 2, while DICE promised that, at no point, would it charge for maps that it puts out for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Wednesday was about Microsoft bringing Halo 3 to its Games on Demand service during April, alongside titles like Devil May Cry 4, and about the cast of characters for the upcoming demo version of UFC Undisputed 2010.

Thursday was dominated by Valve's announcement that Modern Warfare 2 would be playable for free using Steam for the weekend but we also found the time to notice that football fans could see what 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa had in store for them via the demo.

On Friday, Blizzard announced that it would be selling a Collector's Edition of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty including artwork, soundtracks, in-game content and a dog tag-like USB drive containing the first game in the series and its expansion. We also learned that Warner Bros. would be launching F.E.A.R. 3 in the fall, betting that players would be attracted to a new round of horror moments featuring Alma.
