EA Sports has announced that it will be launching a demo version of 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, the football simulation set to be launched on April 27. Players who are interested in seeing how the game is shaping up can check out the Xbox Live service from Microsoft or the PlayStation Network from Sony and download the demo.

There are only two playable teams in the demo, Spain, who are at the moment favorites to pick up the World Cup when the real tournament kicks off in June, and Italy, a team that almost always seems to perform above tournament expectations. Gamers who get the demo will be able to try a new control scheme, which the title is showing off, where players can be controlled with just two buttons on the gamepad.

EA Sports is saying that its presence in 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will draw a bigger crowd to the title, guaranteeing that those who are football fans but unaccustomed to videogames will also give it a try. There is also an option to upload game replays to the EA Football World website.

2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa will allow players to choose from no less than 199 teams and take them first through the qualifying process and then through the finals. The ten official stadiums in South Africa are fully simulated and there are some significant changes from FIFA 10, including higher fatigue for players when matches take place at altitude and a bigger home field advantage.

EA Sports has also announced the soundtrack for the new football title, saying that it is set to reflect the multicultural nature of football. The main song is “Wavin' Flag (Coca-Cola Celebration Mix)” from K'naan. When 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa launches, it will have Nintendo Wii and PlayStation Portable versions as well.
