14 DAY TRIAL // Chinese company ZTE has just announced one of the cheapest smartphones to come with fingerprint sensor, the Blade A1. The new handset has been officially introduced in China recently, and there's no word on its availability outside the Mainland.
However, since most of Blade series phones are available for purchase worldwide, we suspect ZTE will launch the A1 in other countries as well.
For the time being, ZTE Blade A1 is available for purchase via Chinese retailer JD.com for just 600 yuan outright, which is about $95 or €85.
Although ZTE Blade A1 is an entry level smartphone, it comes with some features that should put it in the mid-range category. One of these features is the fingerprint sensor positioned on the back of the phone, right below the camera and LED flash.
If it's launched in other countries, it will be slightly more expensive
The Blade A1 could be the world's cheapest smartphone to pack fingerprint scanner, so if you're looking for this feature, in particular, but can't afford a more expensive device, then this is the right choice.
Apart from the fingerprint scanner on the back, ZTE Blade A1 comes with pretty decent specs. For example, the smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.
Also, the device comes equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory expandable up to 64GB via microSD card slot.
Another strong point of the low-end smartphone is the 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording. There's also a secondary 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies and video calls.
Speaking of which, ZTE Blade A1 offers both dual-SIM and 4G LTE support. It's also worth mentioning the smartphone drains energy from a 2,800 mAh battery and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box.
