Good news for ZTE fans who purchased the company's flagship smartphone, the Axon Pro, as the Chinese company has just announced it has kicked off the rollout of Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for this particular device.

Unveiled back in July, ZTE Axon Pro made its debut on the market one month later, but the smartphone shipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box.

However, customers were then informed that ZTE would provide Axon Pro owners with an Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade later on.

“When we launched the Axon Pro this past July we made a promise to our consumers that we will support and provide ongoing Android updates to our flagship device. Today, we are keeping this promise by providing the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow for you to enjoy!” said ZTE.

Today, the Chinese handset maker has confirmed the update is now available for Axon Pro devices. At the same time, ZTE has announced that the Marshmallow update for Axon has been delayed, but it will arrive in the coming months.

Get your Doze mode, Now on Tap, new app drawer features now

According to ZTE, the Marshmallow upgrade for Axon Pro includes many new features and improvements, like Doze mode, which will put the smartphone into a deeper sleep when not in use for a long period of time.

The new Now on Tap feature provides quick access to learning more about the place you meet your friends and how to get there. The new feature can be used while surfing the web, checking email or almost any other activity to get the information you need at the press of a button.

There's also a fresh app drawer that has been redesigned with new enhancements to make it quicker and easier to find any app that you might need.

ZTE also states that, before upgrading to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, you should install the update while using a WiFi connection. The upgrade is about 835 MB in size, so it will take quite a bit of time if you decide to download it via mobile network.

Once connected to Wi-Fi, you should head to Settings / About phone / System updates / System updates / Update Now. Keep in mind that the upgrade is only available for the Axon Pro, so if you own an Axon smartphone, stay tuned for more details on the availability of the upgrade.
