14 DAY TRIAL // One of the most powerful Android smartphones available on the market, ZTE's new Axon Phone is now available for pre-order in the United States for just $450.
Customers in the US are the only ones that can pre-purchase the smartphone in either blue, gold or chrome color options, but soon Android fans in Canada will be able to grab the Axon Phone as well, MobileSyrup reports.
Although there's no telling whether the smartphone will be available for around the same price, we do know it will go on sale as Axon Phone Pro sometime this summer.
The Axon Phone is part of ZTE's strategy to establish a strong foothold in the North American smartphone market. However, we expect the Chinese company to introduce its new flagship device in other countries as well, though it's unclear when exactly.
Anyway, Canadians should expect the Axon Phone Pro to drop at major retailers across the country very soon and judging by the handset's specs, this will be quite a good deal for those who can afford it.
The Axon Phone has only been confirmed for North America
ZTE's Axon Phone Pro ships with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box and packs a powerful, but controversial, 64-bit 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor paired with an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit.
ZTE's high-end smartphone is one of the few to come with 4GB of RAM inside. Apart from that, the Axon Phone Pro also packs 32GB of internal memory and a decent enough 3,000 mAh battery.
Another strong point of the device would be the 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and feature Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating.
Obviously, it comes with 4G LTE support and duo camera in the back, which means it packs a 13-megapixel photo snapper with autofocus, dual-LED flash and 4K video recording, as well as a secondary 2-megapixel camera for in-depth focus.
In the front, the Axon Phone Pro features a no-less-impressive 8-megapixel camera for great selfies and video calls. It's also worth mentioning that ZTE's high-end device features fast battery charging and two amplifiers for “hi-fi” audio.
