Apple's missed opportunity for iPhone becomes ZNAPS' success

Developed on Kickstarter, ZNAPS was influenced by MacBook's MagSafe-style charging adapter to create a similar universally compatible magnetic charger for smartphones.

Although introduced by Apple almost ten years ago, the magnetic-style adapter was never ported for smartphones, not even iPhones, and kept casual micro-USB and Lightning adapters always needing two hands to be plugged into your phone.

The guys at ZNAPS, however, wanted to change that and bring what seems to be an ingenious Apple idea on the smartphone market, ending the everyday hurdles of needing two hands to charge your phone or having it sensitive to accidental physical abuse. Easy plugging in and out your phone battery adapter will save you time while being more comfortable to use.

What's more impressive, however, is the universality of the Adapter as it comes both for iPhones and Android devices ports to be plugged in. Basically, what ZNAPS gives you is a small port head that will fit permanently in your micro-USB or Lightning port while the small protruding bump on the back of your adapter head will be the magnetic connector.

Universal, comfortable, ergonomic

Your adapter then will fit in that small magnetic connector just like the MagSafe adapter on MacBooks, magnetically snapping onto it. More than that, it will provide better waterproof qualities for your phone as the adapter is reinforced with a silicone ring, and will also provide reversible plugging with no worries if the cable is introduced in the wrong position.

Overall, this initiative seems to bring a very useful and extremely simple addition to the countless peripherals that already exist for smartphones and nobody, until now, has ever thought of. Not even Apple itself. Why not bring a much-lauded battery charging feature of a mobile platform like the MacBook MagSafe on the most carried and handled device of them all, the smartphone?

The ZNAPS developing team already gathered a huge support for their pledge, seven times their initial goal, and with just $9 (€8.28) you will get your ZNAPS connector and adapter with their first shipments in December.
