Great news for those who decided to go for YU's Yureka and Yureka Plus smartphones as Micromax's owned brand has just announced that a Cyanogen OS 12.1 update is now rolled out.

Although it took the folks over at YU almost five months to make it happen, Cyanogen OS 12.1 has finally arrived for Yureka and Yureka Plus owners.

“We understand it took longer than usual but we wanted to put up something concrete and ensure its worth your wait. Apologies for a longer wait time,” said the company's CEO Rahul Sharma.

According to YU, the update should bring improved performance and top-notch thermal control to both Yureka and Yureka Plus smartphones.

The Indian company also states that Cyanogen OS 12.1 update is now being rolled out in phases over the coming two weeks, which means not everyone will get it at the same time.

Significant improvements in terms of performance and visual changes

Regarding changes, YU highlighted some of the most important new features and improvements that the new update brings into the mix.

For example, the company confirmed that the update comes with a redesigned launcher. Both App Drawer and Folders have been redesigned for one-handed use as well.

They have also implemented a smarter screen, so LiveDisplay will now intelligently adjust the screen based on environmental conditions.

Furthermore, users will now be able to enjoy the latest Boxer-powered experience where they can smoothly share their availability and schedule appointments.

There's also a fresh AudioFX, as the user interface has been updated for consistency across all devices. Last but not least, more Playback support has been implemented, which translates into substantially increased support for codecs for video and audio playback.

If you own the YU Yureka or Yureka Plus, make sure to update to Cyanogen OS 12.1 when you get notified of its availability.
