YouTube could change video loading animations on Android

YouTube has reportedly started testing three different new video loading animations in its app for Android. Thus, YouTube plans to bring some minor visual changes for its Android users, while the impact of new animations could be major.

One of YouTube’s new video loading animations resembles the Android KitKat boot animation, while another shows red and blue circles, as revealed by Android Police. It’s worth mentioning that the last animation reveals a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which will surely not go unnoticed.

The animations do vary in design and will appear while users wait for a video to load. Surely, they would show up when the WiFi or mobile data connection is not ideal, or after users change the video quality to a higher level.

New animations could appear soon in the YouTube Android app

The first animation reveals a small white dot expanding to multiple red ones and floating around in a circle. The second reveals a half-red and half-white circle, while the third shows the dinosaur in red and white stripes with three dots underneath it.

It’s unclear which animation YouTube will eventually pick, but it would be a good idea if all of them were kept and new ones would be added along the way. Nobody wants to wait while a video loads, but if a random, never-before-seen animation appeared, it would certainly make the wait easier. Perhaps, YouTube will create new animations with a more varied selection of animals, not just a dinosaur.

It remains to be seen when and if YouTube will launch the new animations for all users. Currently, the animation when loading a video on YouTube shows a line drawing a circle and a change would surely be welcome.

YouTube recently announced that users watch 1 billion hours of videos every day, some on their smartphones, others on desktops.
