As announced in October 2015, YouTube Red is preparing to launch its first original movies, among which is a new Web series featuring beloved gamer PewDieDie.

Set to launch on February 10, YouTube Red Originals, as this new service addition is called, will complement YouTube Red's Music offering and its guaranteed ads-free experience.

Considered to be an experiment, the first batch of YouTube Red Originals shows includes titles like "A Trip to Unicorn Island," "Dance Camp," "Lazer Team," and "Scare PewDieDie."

Three original movies

The first announced title is "A Trip to Unicorn Island," which is a feature-length movie that follows Lilly Singh as she travels through 26 cities around the globe.

The second title, "Dance Camp," is another feature film, produced by YouTube's AwesomenessTV channel crew, which is about... dance, what else.

The third title is called "Lazer Team" and is a full featured movie, an action-comedy produced by Fullscreen Films and the people behind the Rooster Teeth YouTube channel. The film is about four kids that discover an alien ship and mysteriously end up saving Earth.

PewDieDie's much-anticipated Web series

But the selling point of this experiment is PewDieDie's much-anticipated Web series called "Scare PewDieDie."

Created by Skybound Entertainment and Maker Studios, some of the people behind the hit TV series "The Walking Dead," it features the Swedish gamer facing real-life scenarios inspired by some of his favorite video games.

With almost 42 million YouTube subscribers, PewDieDie is the driving force behind YouTube's bold move into Netflix and HBO's territories.

As announced before, the service will cost $9.99/month, but Apple users will have to pay $12.99 to cover the in-app purchase tax practiced by the company.

Google also warns that YouTube Red and its originals series may not be available right from the get-go in all countries around the globe.
