Continue from where you left off on your mobile

We’ve known for a while that Microsoft was working on making Android phones feel like the best friend of Windows, but the project has reached a point where the two feel like members of the same family.

The latest exciting update announced by Microsoft concerns Office documents, as the Your Phone app is being updated with continuity for the productivity suite.

In other words, you can now continue working in a Microsoft Office document from where you left off on the mobile device.

You can do this either with the desktop app (if Office is installed on your PC) or using the browser and the web-based version of the productivity suite.

“You were able to access your Office documents on the go with the Office mobile app, but now with Your Phone’s deeper integration with Office, when you get back to your PC, you can open the supported documents in the Office desktop app or browser and pick up right where you left off on your phone.  Simply click on the document icon from your Recent Apps flyout from Your Phone icon in the system tray on the taskbar or from within the Apps page in Your Phone app and continue working without missing a beat,” Microsoft explains.

Only available for select insiders for now

The feature is currently available only for insiders, but Microsoft says that even here it’s rolling out in stages. In other words, not everybody in the Insider program is getting access to this Your Phone update, as Microsoft first wants to make sure everything is working properly.

Worth knowing, however, is that only Samsung devices are supported for now. It’ll take a while until more Android phones would allow for Office continuity, but this is without a doubt the final goal anyway. The required Your Phone app version is 1.22022.60.0.
