Microsoft cuts Lumia 950 and 950 XL prices in its stores

If you’re a long-time Microsoft watcher, you've probably heard those rumors saying that the company wants to discontinue the Lumia brand entirely, so the firm is believed to be trying to sell existing stocks before making this decision public.

While it’s hard to say whether this is indeed the plan or not, Microsoft has been offering discounts for the Lumia lineup for many months now, and today it’s the United States’ turn to get the chance of buying the flagships at lower prices.

Microsoft Store discounts

First of all, it’s the Lumia 950, which can be yours from the Microsoft Store for just $249. This is a $150 price cut, down from the original price of $399.

The 5.2-inch display phone comes with a 20-megapixel camera with Zeiss optics, 32 GB storage, and is powered by Snapdragon 808, which is currently one of the best chips on mobile devices - not as good as the Snapdragon 820 on the Alcatel IDOL 4S, though, but it’s still a pretty good option.

If you want the bigger version, the Lumia 950 XL is also on sale with a price of $299, down from $499, so you get a discount of no less than $200.

This time, the phone comes with a 5.7-inch display, Snapdragon 810, 32GB storage, and 3GB RAM. The camera is a 20-megapixel unit with OIS, 6-lens optics, and natural flash.

It goes without saying that both phones run Windows 10 Mobile and are pretty good choices for those who want to buy a phone that will support most upcoming OS updates, starting with the Creators Update.

Keep in mind that these prices are available while supplies last, so you'd better hurry up if you want to buy a new Lumia. Unfortunately, it’s not yet known what will happen after Microsoft runs out of Lumias, as people with knowledge of the matter say this is the last step towards killing the brand.
