If you're a long-time Windows user, the chances are that you’ve already heard of XP-AntiSpy because this is one of the most popular apps for Windows XP that allow us to disable some features that some thought violated their privacy.

And with privacy in Windows 10 becoming such a hot topic these days, it was only a matter of time until the developer of the app relaunched it to help tackle this problem as well.

A beta version of XP-AntiSpy for Windows 10 is now available, but just as gHacks.net writes, it's only offered in German for the time being, with an English version already in the works.

Microsoft: don't install such apps

On Windows 10, XP-AntiSpy will have the exact same features as all the other apps that promise to disable data collection, so it'll be able not only to turn off localization, sensors, Wi-Fi Sense, and all the other services that are bundled into the OS, but also to configure it not to provide you with suggestions, ideas, reminders, or alerts.

Certainly, having such an app comes in handy to privacy-obsessed users, but don't forget that Microsoft doesn't recommend anyone to turn to this kind of programs because they can affect the overall stability of the OS.

“We strongly suggest customers do not install applications of this nature. These types of third-party apps can alter the way the system operates, creating future problems and changing important settings and features,” a Microsoft spokesperson told us in a statement, clearly emphasizing that installing apps supposed to block data collection can do more harm than good.

Obviously, many people still ignore these recommendations and download such apps, but keep in mind that, in this case, German is the only language available. If you want to find out what this app is all about, you can check out the original version of XP-AntiSpy aimed at Windows XP.
