Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has been keeping itself busy lately and launched two smartphones in just two days: Redmi 3X and Redmi 3S.

The two handsets are similar in terms of specs and design, but there still are some notable differences. Xiaomi Redmi 3X has been launched today with China Unicom support only, while Redmi 3S comes with global network support.

Redmi 3X features 2GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage with the option to expand up to 128GB with a microSD card. The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD display and Snapdragon 430 chipset and draws power from a 4,100mAh battery.

It packs a 13MP rear camera with PDAF as well as a 5MP front selfie snapper. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back, a feature that seems to be the norm in newly released smartphones.

Xiaomi Redmi 3X will be available in Gold and Silver color variants and is expected to carry a price tag of $136. The smartphone also measures 139.7 x 69.7 x 8.5mm and weighs 146 grams.

By comparison, Xiaomi Redmi 3S has quite similar measurements, 139.3 x 69.6 x 8.5mm, but it weighs less (144 grams). Redmi 3S comes with the same type of processor, Snapdragon 430 octa-core, clocked at 1.4GHz. It also has two variants, depending on RAM size and storage capabilities, one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the second with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.

It has a 5-inch 720p display with a 5MP f/2.2 aperture front-facing camera and a 13MP shooter on the back, which also comes with f/2.0 aperture, HDR, PDAF, and 1080p full HD recording.

Redmi 3S packs a 4,100mAh battery, provides 5V 2A fast charging options, and it’s available in three color variants, namely Gray, Silver and Gold. The first version with 2GB of RAM and 16GB storage costs $106 while the second with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage has the exact price as the Redmi 3X, $136.

While these mid-range smartphones are quite decent and affordable alternatives for the market, we’re more excited about the rumored curved-edge smartphone that Xiaomi is said to unveil next year.
