It is certainly a big day for Chinese electronics company Xiaomi, which unveiled three accessories during today’s event for launching the Mi Max phablet and the latest version of its Android-based OS MIUI 8. The Mi Max smartphone caused quite a stir, considering that it has the biggest display in Xiaomi’s portfolio of phones, 6.44 inches full-HD and 1080x1920 pixels resolution.
During today’s event in Beijing, Xiaomi showcased a 10,000mAh battery, which measures 12.6mm in thickness and has a USB Type-C port for charging the battery or a phone. This type of port also allows two-way fast charging and the battery will sport a 12.58mm side profile. The battery was priced at ¥399 ($23/€20).
The iHealth box could be used for measuring various medical related metrics, such as blood pressure and heart beat. It comes with a 4.3-inch display to show readings and it supports Wi-Fi connectivity for transferring data. It has been priced at ¥399 ($61/€54).
Delayed release for the Mi Band 2
Although the Mi Band was showcased at the event, there’s little information on the specs. Some images surfaced online recently, showing that the Mi Band second generation will be a definitive upgrade from the initial versions – Mi Band and Band 1S, which didn’t have a screen. The second generation Mi Band will be coming with an LED screen and a round, physical button, while the device will be attached to a rubber strap.
Rumors say that the device will come with a heart rate sensor on the back, just like the Mi Band 1. It will be Xiaomi’s first fitness tracker with a display to show battery status, steps, heart rate stats, time and the speed of movement.
Mi Band 2 was scheduled for release during today’s event, but it was delayed for a month, due to production issues. It’s highly likely that it will be unveiled before the end of June and might be placed in the same price range as its predecessor.
